One of the hardest things about being lonely is admitting it. There is still a stigma about saying ‘I’m lonely’, and we want to change that.

We believe it’s vital that people are able to talk about their experience of isolation and loneliness. Like many difficulties we face in life, loneliness can be made easier by talking about it.

We’re looking for people to get in touch and tell us about their lives. We’d like to publish these stories on our blog and social media channels.

We’d like each blog to be between 500 and 700 words.

The blog needs to be written in first person and tell of your personal experience of loneliness. We can’t publish opinion pieces or political views.

What to write about

If you’re stuck, here are some starting points for what you could include in your blog.

  • When loneliness first impacted you
  • What life events caused your loneliness
  • Why you think loneliness is such an issue
  • What helped you feel less lonely
  • How we can make better connections with each other

Once your blog is written please send it to info@campaigntoendloneliness.org.uk, where it will be reviewed by our editors.

If your blog is something we’d like to publish our team will get in touch. If you’re not a particularly confident writer – don’t worry – our editors will be able to work with you to make it the best it can be.

About you

In your email please tell us:

  • Your age
  • Your location
  • A short paragraph about yourself

Writing tips

Please be aware we can’t publish everything we receive, and due to the number of blogs we receive we might not be able to respond if your blog submission has been unsuccessful. If we don’t publish your piece that doesn’t mean it isn’t good, it’s just that it’s not quite right for us – You could publish your own blog on Tumblr or WordPress, or even share your writing on Facebook
